Tessellations

Tessellations

My pattern I used to make my tessellations was a lightning bolt. While making this pattern, It wasn't hard at all. The easy part about this was cutting out the shapes and sticking it on another piece of paper. The part I enjoyed while making this, is putting the patterns in different angles.

No Guy Fawkes

WALT: 1. Write a narrative, 2. use words to paint a picture, 3. use senses.
No Guy Fawkes

Kyle was very excited to come back home after school. Mum and and dad had all the fireworks displayed on the lounge table. Kyle and his little sister Jamie couldn’t wait for tonight.

Dad was going to get some more fireworks. So Dad went off to the shop. Daniel, Kyle’s best friend came over. He was staying the night over at Kyle’s house.  Daniel and Kyle went to back yard to look after Jamie, just in case she might hurt herself. Dad had finally arrived home.

It was getting dark. Everybody from the neighbourhood started gathering their fireworks just to get ready for tonight. Once it was 8:00, everybody started to light up their fireworks.  There was a lot of excitement on the street. BOOM! BANG! Kyle heard as face started turning bright red.

Half an hour later, he felt something wet. Daniel looked at the sky and saw it turning grey. They didn't know what was going to happen. It started to get cold and all of a sudden, it started pouring with rain. Everybody gathered their fireworks and evacuated inside.

Kyle looked sad, so did Daniel and Jessie. They didn't know what to do with the leftover fireworks. Everybody put on their thinking caps and was thinking of ideas. Jessie came up with brilliant idea. She told dad and mum to save the fireworks for Christmas. Nobody had thought of that. So mum and dad put in their wardrobe for Christmas.

While it was still raining, Kyle and Daniel were sitting on the couch looking outside the window. They just hope, they would save their Guy Fawkes Christmas.

Theme: If it does rain on Guy Fawkes save it for a special days instead of putting it to waste.

What a Week

WALT: write a narrative.
Sports

Oh are we leaving today, what a bummer. Everybody’s moan was full of disappointment. Nobody wanted to leave.

Mr.Hendricks barked out the instructions that we had to. Everybody was walking slowly  to their dorms to pack and clean up. You could see that everybody was sad carrying their bags to the fountain which was in the middle of the camp site. Everybody went saying their goodbyes to their friends they had met.

Mr.Hendricks shouted in a grumbling voice to the students to be at theater for prize giving. Altogether our school took 9 trophies which was brilliant for our first time at sports camp. The most competitive school which was Weymouth intermediate who took 14 trophies which was amazing. It was a fun and competitive week for all the schools at sports camp and sadly a wonderful week has come to an end.

Our bus was running late. Some we  played on the park and played football with the teachers.  We had been waiting for 2 and half hours. Everybody was losing their patience.

Andrew, one bosses who runs the sports camp told us that Weymouth had taken our bus. That day was so hot he let us on the waterslide. Everybody had fun but our bus had finally arrived.

Everybody had a fun week a Totara Springs and everybody would love to go back again.

Basketball Poem

Basketball Poem

Dribble, Dribble, Dribble, Dribble, Dribble, Dribble,
Stop, There goes that ball.
Up and Down, around the rim,
I think it stoped to go for a swim.

It goes up and down,
Around and Around,
I just won’t stop,
Its trying to catch the next bus to town.

Passing and bouncing ,
It keeps on prancing,
Make sure that the ball will not stop dancing.

There goes some of the rules,
and play smart and,
Don't
drop that basketball.

Cross Country Rap

Cross Country Rap

Cross Country is like running around the country,
Sweating, trying, feel like you're dying,
Your running so fast,
as fast as you can,
We already know that you just can’t last.

You're determined you don’t want to stop,
You know the clock doesn't stop,
Better get going,
Tik Tok Tik Tok!

You finished the course,
You cannot run any more,
You have to go to class,
Come on!

Milk in Schools

Walt: share our thoughts on milk in school’s.

I fervently believe that milk should be provided at low decile schools. These 2 reasons explain why:

First some children don’t have breakfast and that means they don’t think properly in class, and drinking one glass of milk can help a child tackle the work through out the day.

Last but not least Milk helps children have strong bones and helps them get active and that means they will not be over weight. Also it's great for teeth because it helps to prevent tooth decay.

I think poverty is the real issue in this situation because of families moving houses and parents not working and getting enough money their children's lunches.

Sumatran Tiger Report

WALT:write a report/narrative.
Devastating News

A 21 year old Sumatran Tiger, called Cantik has been put down at Wellington Zoo on the 28th August. Wellington zoo staff have decided to put the tiger down because it has been suffering adrenal tumors and several arthritis.

Cantik has a very special name which means Beautiful in Indonesia. Sumatran tigers a critically endangered species and there’s not much living in the world. The population of Sumatran tigers are Under 400.  Sumatran tigers have short powerful legs, Huge paws, and a powerful jaw which is bigger from most other tigers. Sumatran tigers have special webbing to their feet which makes them swim a lot faster.

I think that Sumatran tigers should not be euthanised and should die naturally.

Wellington Zoo should look for Sumatran tigers so they can breed and Have babies.

Prevention is better than Cure

WALT: respond to the presentation by the public health department.
Prevention is better than cure

On the 6 of August, Glen Innes School had visitors to talk about rheumatic fever, how it can make you very ill.

Dr Alison Leversha talked about rheumatic fever. She did a demonstration on one of the Vodafone Warriors players named Sione. Dr Alison put a swab into his mouth to check his throat and then it was done. She was talking about how it can get worse. Like you can get sore joints, how you cannot walk, and cause damage to your heart. Rheumatic fever can also start from sores on your skin. So to prevent skin sores, check, clean, and cover.

A legend rugby league star named Awen Guttenbeil came to share his experience about rheumatic fever and how it happened. He was playing rugby and he had a sore throat. he did not tell anyone about his sore throat. One morning he woke he couldn't walk. So his parents took him to the hospital quickly. Awen had a hole in his heart. He had treatment for 10 years with injections shots into his bottom.
The message In this article is not to ignore a sore throat tell someone about because it can get worse and it can lead it to rheumatic fever.

Jump Rope

Walt:Write a report.

On Friday the 7th of June, Glen Innes school had Jump Rope. The Jump Rope was held in their school hall. Some of the students parents came and sat on the stage. From rooms 1 to 12, each class had brilliant routines.

All the classes had brilliant song choices for their skipping routines. While the children were skipping it was amazing because everyone was in time. As I was watching the skipping routines, there was a lot of effort and energy. The children were smiling and I was impressed by there skipping skills.

The songs that the classes were skipping to, the children knew the words and they sang along. The songs that were playing the parents were singing too. Everyone was exhausted after their routines. Everybody had fun and you could see the smiles on their faces.

Mummfication

The Ancient Egyptians mummified their dead. Egyptians removed the brain, intestines, stomach, and the liver and were put in Canopic jars but they did not removed the heart. The Egyptians salted and dried the body. They stuffed some cloth inside the body so that it kept in shape. Next it was oiled and was wrapped in lots of cloth. The body was wrapped tightly to stop the body from rotting away. The process was supervised by a priest. The priest used special instruments to send the soul from the body to the next world. Some of dead bodies were put in ordinary boxes or it was decorated. But if it was someone special like a Pharaoh, the body was transferred into a stone case.

Pharaoh in Ancient Egypt

WALT:write in correct paragraphs.

I am a pharaoh in  Ancient Egypt for a day. Being a Pharaoh is very important cause I  watch over the courts and  the temple. Theres another reason why the my role is important because I have to please the Gods and treat everyone with respect so that good fortune would come to Egypt. I would be transported place to place on a chair carried by servants.

I would be wearing many items which stood for kingship like crowns with jewels which stood for the Supreme Rank. My wife and I wear false beards made out of gold. This symbolised royalty.

My daily schedule is to go to the temple and please and pray to the God. Next I’ll hear my daily news from my trusted vizer. Then I check up on the pyramid, which was built by my servants. Finally, during my  leisure time I am  entertained by my servants, or I have a conversation with my wife.

Rugby Training

Walt:use our emotions to describe playing sport.

Every Tuesday and Thursday I have rugby training. Its very critical to be at training so the coach tells you where the game will be,  the exact right time, and also tells you what position you will be playing. Training makes the team  fit and strong.Playing rugby also requires time management. During rugby training I feel exhausted and your limbs and muscles would be in pain.
